Sustainability News Lab has forged a formidable coalition of partners to bring its vision to life. Supported by the Embassy of France, the French Institute, the Embassy of Sweden in Romania, IKEA, Tetra Pak, Asociatia Alucro, RespoDEEE, and esteemed universities across Romania, this project stands on the shoulders of giants.


Unearthing the Why

Why sustainability journalism and communication? Sustainability News Lab seeks to answer this fundamental question. Its mission is to educate the next generation of Romanian journalists and communicators about the critical role of sustainability journalism and communication. The project equips journalism students, professionals, NGOs, and sustainability specialists with the skills needed to effectively report on sustainability issues and communicate them to a wider audience.

Sustainability journalism serves as a beacon, illuminating pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges. Through storytelling, it informs, educates, and engages society, offering innovative solutions and holding decision-makers accountable.


Connecting to ESDW - Pioneering Sustainability

The Epic Journey Unveiled

The adventure of Sustainability News Lab unfolds in three acts, from October to December 2023:

  • Act I: Workshops (October): Participants embark on a transformative journey through a series of workshops, available both online and offline. They delve into the art of sustainability journalism and communication, covering topics from environmental reporting to data journalism, investigative storytelling, and multimedia wizardry.

  • Act II: Research and Writing (November): Armed with newfound knowledge, participants delve into sustainability topics. They gather information, conduct interviews, and craft compelling articles, essays, and communication campaigns.

  • Act III: Sustainability Star Award Competition (December): The climax of this epic unfolds with the Sustainability Star Award Competition. Participants submit their works, facing rigorous evaluation, including peer review by partner institutions. The public also has a voice, casting votes for the People's Choice Sustainability Star.
